Maldives

In our climate section, you'll find an easy-to-read overview of the best times to visit various destinations. The data, based on the average of the last 20 years, includes reliable insights on temperatures (both maximum and minimum) and precipitation. This allows you to quickly assess the most favorable period to plan your trip and make the most of your travel experience.

The Maldives typically experiences a relatively uniform tropical climate across its 26 atolls, with small regional variations influenced by seasonal monsoons. The northern atolls, such as Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, and Shaviyani, tend to be slightly cooler due to their northern latitude. While they experience similar rain patterns, they may have an earlier onset of monsoon effects compared to other areas. The central atolls, including Male, Baa, Lhaviyani, and Alif, are known for some of the driest conditions in the Maldives, offering excellent visibility for diving and snorkeling throughout most of the year. In contrast, the southern atolls, such as Addu, Gaafu Dhaalu, and Laamu, tend to receive slightly more rainfall and have warmer sea temperatures due to their proximity to the equator.
